For Prospective Students

Our laboratory pursues a wide range of research topics driven by a fundamental curiosity about the remarkable growth capacity and environmental adaptability of plants. From one perspective, we conduct both basic research aimed at uncovering the intrinsic nature of plants, and applied research that seeks to maximize plant potential and contribute to sustainable agriculture. From another, our work spans microscale studies that observe plant cells at the organelle level, to macroscale analyses of whole-plant growth and environmental responses.
We believe that anyone with an interest in plants will find at least one research theme that sparks a sense of “This is fascinating!”.

Our laboratory employs a broad set of experimental approaches, including molecular biology, cell biology, physiology, and biochemistry. Even if you have no prior experience, you can acquire the necessary skills quickly—faculty members, research assistants, and senior students will provide careful, hands-on training.
We welcome motivated individuals who enjoy learning new things and are eager to take on challenges together.
